Role of Music on Marathi Stage

Maharashtra Mandal Bay Area proudly supports a special program 'Role of Music on Marathi Stage' ('मराठी नाट्यांत संगीताचे स्थान' ) performed by Bay Area drama and music enthusiasts. A unique program about the influence of music on the Marathi Stage. Covering a period of over 150 years, the theme presented various stages of how the stage and play creation was affected by several aspects of light and classical music.

The show was first time performed on March 27th, 2010, Actors wearing traditional costumes actually played small parts and sang songs in various moods of the mind (called the Nava Rasas). A full house of more than 350 fans enjoyed every moment of this presentation showing very high standards in theatrical arts and music. When the central Marathi Organization B.M.M.(Brihan Maharashtra Mandal) organizers saw the DVD of this program, they were immensely impressed and invited Bay Area artists to perform at their bi-ennial Convention at Chicago on 22nd July 2011. This is a very welcome opportunity awaits for drama/music fans of bay area who may have missed the show in the past.
